People living in country areas often find it difficult to meet with a lawyer or easily find legal information. The Federal Government recently announced plans to allocate more than $1 million to address the problem of recruitment and retention of lawyers in regional and remote areas.
Now, a new Australian website brings immediate access to justice closer to people living in regional towns.
The website, Foolkit.com.au, contains hundreds of well-organised links and is written in plain English. The free site has tips on choosing a lawyer and even ‘DIY legal kits’.
Foolkit was built by former Adelaide lawyer Andrew Rogers, who originally created it as an intranet for his own law firm.
“Like most people, I found that many legal websites were a maze,” Mr Rogers said.
“There is useful legal information all over the internet, but what I’ve done, is sort the information logically and put it in one place. Foolkit is a site that puts everything at your fingertips.
“Most importantly, it is always changing to keep up-to-date with changes in the law and new resources.
“Foolkit.com.au is so easy to navigate that we say that ‘any fool can use it’.”
Andrew said the name ‘Foolkit’ was a variation of the term ‘toolkit’ and reflected his aim to make the site easy for anyone to use. Visit the Foolkit site at: www.foolkit.com.au
