Leading national commercial construction company, Hansen Yuncken, has been named Australia’s Private Business of the Year for companies with more than $100 million turnover at the BRW ANZ Private Business Awards, announced last night.
The company also has jumped 8 places to 27th on BRW’s list of Top 500 private companies in Australia.
Hansen Yuncken Executive Chairman, Peter Kennedy, said it was an outstanding result on the back of a strong year, and was testament to the hard work and expertise of the company’s 800-plus employees.
He said a focus on key market sectors such as public private partnerships (PPP) and large government projects through recent periods of economic uncertainty had proved to be a successful strategy.
“Hansen Yuncken has worked hard to differentiate itself from the rest of the commercial construction industry by building value into all of our projects,” Mr Kennedy said.
“This includes tendering for contracts based on quality rather than just price, and by anticipating opportunities in specialist markets such as health, defence, schools and green buildings.
“We’ve also remained debt free, and the company’s owners have reinvested their dividends in Hansen Yuncken and continue to play an active role in its management.”
Hansen Yuncken is currently delivering projects valued in excess of $2.9 billion, which has enabled it to further build its balance sheet and credit rating, and enhancing its ability to continue growing.”
Hansen Yuncken, established in 1918, is one of Australia’s largest private commercial construction contractors. The company employs over 800 people around Australia with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Hobart, Newcastle, Townsville, Cairns, and Shepparton/Albury.
