Jobs Statewide Secure $1.2 Million In Training Funding For Local Job Seekers

March 9, 2011

South Australian not for profit employment and training provider Jobs Statewide has secured $1.2 million in Federal government funding to provide training for local job seekers.

The training will be delivered in key industry sectors identified by the Training and Skills Commission (TASC) as priorities for developing South Australia’s workforce to meet growing skills shortages.

Jobs Statewide will work with partner organisations including the Royal Society for the Blind, Bedford Group’s Career Systems, Interwork and BoysTown to identify eligible job seekers and fill the training places.

Jobs Statewide Chief Executive Officer, Ms Wendy Jayne-Williams said securing the funding demonstrates the government’s confidence in Jobs Statewide to deliver high quality targeted training.

“The training will provide a significant boost for local job seekers.

“We will run the training programs through our subsidiary Excel Training across metropolitan Adelaide and in regional areas including Mount Barker, Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Port Lincoln, Whyalla, Clare, Berri and Mount Gambier.

“Courses will be offered in Business, Business Administration, Transport and Logistics and Retail to local job seekers. Each course will run for 5 weeks on a full-time basis.

“All courses are full instructor led with training mentors on-hand to support participants through course subjects.

“Our training model maintains completion rates of more than 90 percent which is well above industry benchmarks for job seeker training.

“Participants are also offered practical experience through structured industry placements and employment and traineeship opportunities are developed at the conclusion of each course.”

Eligible job seekers interested in courses offered by Jobs Statewide need to enrol before 30 June 2011. Information sessions will be held for each course.

Interested job seekers and referral agencies should contact Excel Training on 8212 7844 or email training@excels.com.au
