The Dunes appoints General Manager

April 4, 2011

The Dunes Port Hughes on South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula has formally appointed Barry West as General Manager of its new Copperclub golf course.

A member of the Professional Golfers’ Association and specialist at Troon Golf, Mr West joins The Dunes Port Hughes from the Lion Lake Country Club in China, which last year was voted by Golf Vacations magazine as the country’s Best New Golf Club.

Mr West is also an accredited golf coach and has instructed professionals on the US PGA Tour, including 2005 Jacob's Creek Open winner Steven Bowditch.

The Dunes Port Hughes Chief Executive Officer Andrew Martin said Mr West’s appointment is timely ahead of the opening of the first nine holes of the Greg Norman-designed course.

"Barry has a wealth of worldwide experience in both golf club management and instruction, so we're delighted to welcome him to oversee the inception of our fantastic new golf club," said Mr Martin.

"Under his management we'll be looking to drive membership numbers and implement a range of golf programs to help establish Copperclub as one of South Australia's finest courses.”

Copperclub has already secured 120 members who will be given the first opportunity to play the links-style course this Easter. Copperclub will then officially open to the public in June.

Located 170km north of Adelaide overlooking the Spencer Gulf, The Dunes Port Hughes is SA's premier residential and resort development, which over the next decade will see construction of approximately 2,000 homes and world-class leisure facilities including Copperclub.
