23 June 2011
The number of available car parking spaces in Adelaide Airport’s short term car park will be gradually reduced from tomorrow, Friday June 24 to allow for construction works as part of the new multi-level car park and pedestrian plaza.
Approximately 120 parking bays will be fenced off over the next week directly adjacent Sir Richard Williams Avenue on the north-western edge of the car park.
When necessary, motorists will be directed to Adelaide Airport’s overflow car park if the short term car park is full. The overflow car park is part of the former domestic terminal car park and is a 5-10 minute walk to T1.
People driving to and from the airport are advised to allow up to an extra 15 minutes in the event that the short term car park is full and they are directed to the overflow car park.
A section of Sir Richard Williams Avenue will be closed to traffic in late July, with traffic to be diverted via James Schofield Drive and the newly constructed Western Link Road.
The Adelaide Airport multi-level car park and pedestrian plaza development commenced construction in February 2011, and the car park will open to the public in mid 2012.
The $100 million project will more than double the size of the existing short-term car park, with five levels providing short-term parking for 2,000 public and car rental vehicles.
Adelaide Airport Limited will continue to monitor the changes during the construction period to minimise the impact on customers.
Adelaide Airport Limited will regularly update its website and other related media to advise of anticipated changes to parking and traffic conditions – go to www.adelaideairport.com.au.
