New Cathay Pacific non-stop flights to improve international connections

22 August 2011

New non-stop flights from Adelaide to Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific will open up new and faster international connections to Asian and North American destinations.

Adelaide Airport Ltd Managing Director Phil Baker welcomed today’s announcement by Cathay Pacific that it will introduce three non-stop services a week over summer from Adelaide to Hong Kong, starting November 24.

An earlier departure time of 7.45am will also open up more same-day connections via Hong Kong to 36 destinations in China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Nepal, Vietnam, Philippines, Taiwan and India, as well as New York, Vancouver, Toronto, Dubai and Los Angeles.

“This is great news for travellers wanting to travel to Asia and North America without having to spend a night in Hong Kong,” Mr Baker said.

“It will also make Adelaide more attractive to international tourists because they know they’ll be able to get home quicker at the end of their holiday.

“We welcome Cathay Pacific’s continued growth of services between Adelaide and Hong Kong.”

Cathay Pacific currently operates a daily flight from Adelaide to Hong Kong via Melbourne.  Under the new summer schedule, three flights a week will fly non-stop to Hong Kong on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.  The remaining four flights a week will continue to travel via Melbourne.

Daily flights from Hong Kong to Adelaide will continue to operate non-stop.
