Leading private construction company, Hansen Yuncken, has expanded its Queensland operations with the opening of a new office in Brisbane.
The company is looking to build on the success of its regional Queensland operations in the commercial construction marketplace, with offices established in Cairns and Townsville. The Brisbane office is already in charge of overseeing the delivery of the $90 million Rockhampton Hospital Stage 2 development.
State Manager, Tony Swan, has moved from Cairns to head up the Brisbane office. He has been replaced in the Cairns office by Greg Baumann.
Mr Swan said Hansen Yuncken’s growth in the region since it entered the market four years ago had exceeded expectations.
“Securing the Cairns Airport redevelopment contract in 2007 has been the catalyst for us to make our mark in Queensland,” Mr Swan said.
“We took the deliberate strategy of initially concentrating on Far North Queensland and establishing our credentials there before looking further south.
“We believe being part of Australia’s largest private commercial construction company, combined with the project work we’ve already secured in the State, have placed us in a strong position to succeed in the competitive Brisbane marketplace.”
“We will continue to play to our strengths of ‘building value’ in all our project work, and targeting key sectors where we have a proven track record such as in the education, health, retail and defence sectors.”
The new Brisbane office is located at 15 Malt Street in Fortitude Valley.
New Cairns Regional Manager, Greg Baumann, said he was looking forward to the challenge of continuing the company’s growth in Far North Queensland
Mr Baumann began his career with Hansen Yuncken in 1993 as a graduate, and has continued to progress to more challenging roles within the company.
He has consistently delivered successful projects in the health, retail, civic and multidisciplinary sectors, demonstrating his particular experience in complex operating environments such as major hospital projects.
Mr Baumann has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Building Studies and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Building.
Hansen Yuncken, established in 1918, is Australia’s largest private commercial construction contractor. The company employs more than 800 people around Australia with offices in Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, Hobart, Newcastle, Shepparton/Albury and Orange.
