Hansen Yuncken Chief Executive, Joe Barr, has announced the appointment of Chris Bulmer as the company’s new Chief Operating Officer.
Mr Barr said Mr Bulmer’s responsibilities include leadership of the national sector approach in business development, implementation of strategic HR initiatives, executive leadership of the company’s excellent safety standards and culture, and coordination of the regional divisions.
Mr Bulmer will retain responsibility for NSW and ACT, a position he has held since 2005. Adam Towner has been appointed Divisional Manager for the Sydney and Canberra region, reporting to Mr Bulmer.
Mr Bulmer’s 27 year career commenced as an apprentice carpenter and building cadet and he progressed to become a Chartered Builder. He has also been involved in property transactional and development roles for both public and private sectors.
He is a National Councillor and NSW Chapter President of the Australian Institute of Building, and a Committee Member of the Construction Industry Forecasting Council.
Mr Bulmer has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Building Services) from the University of Technology Sydney and a Graduate Diploma in Land Economy from the University of Western Sydney.
Mr Barr said Mr Bulmer brought a wide range of skills and extensive experience to the COO position and has had significant dealings with major institutions and private investors.
“Hansen Yuncken has performed particularly well across public and privately funded projects, including Public Private Partnerships (PPP). Mr Bulmer’s knowledge and experience in this regard complements the ongoing strengths of the company,” Mr Barr said.
“The appointment of Mr Bulmer, together with very strong management teams at State level, will help to ensure future growth and continue the company’s 90-plus years of building value.”
Hansen Yuncken, established in 1918, is Australia’s largest private commercial construction contractor. The company employs more than 800 people around Australia with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Newcastle, Cairns, Townsville, Orange and Shepparton/Albury. Hansen Yuncken was recipient of the 2010 ANZ/BRW Private Business of the Year Award, and National MBA Commercial Builder of the Year Award.
