Airport Car Park Link Bridge Construction Begins

October 31, 2011

Construction starts this week on Adelaide Airport’s new link bridge, which will connect the new multi-level car park with the domestic and international terminal T1.

When completed, the bridge will allow pedestrians to walk from the car park to the terminal without having to cross vehicle traffic.

The link bridge construction works will require a minor re-alignment of Andy Thomas Circuit, which runs directly alongside T1, however the road will remain accessible for passenger pick up and drop off throughout the construction period.

Both T1’s main pedestrian crossing and taxi rank will be relocated approximately 20 metres to the north east to make room for construction activities.  Adelaide Airport Ltd will do whatever it can to minimise disruptions to pedestrians and motorists during this time.

The latest construction activities are not expected to further impact on people travelling to and from the airport.  However, it is still advisable to allow up to an extra 15 minutes due to recent changes to car parking and the airport’s road network.

The Adelaide Airport multi-level car park is scheduled to open to the public in winter 2012.

It will be more than double the size of the existing short-term car park, with five levels providing short-term parking for 2,000 public and car rental vehicles.

Adelaide Airport Limited will regularly update its website and other related media to advise of anticipated disruptions – go to www.adelaideairport.com.au.
