Hansen Yuncken completes Stockland Highlands Shopping Centre

12 December 2011

Australia’s largest private commercial building company, Hansen Yuncken has completed construction of the Stockland Highlands Shopping Centre in Melbourne’s north.

Built over more than 7,000 square metres, Highlands Shopping Centre  in the northern Melbourne suburb, Craigieburn, features a full-scale Woolworths, specialty stores, cafes, restaurants and a town square piazza, providing a quality meeting place for a growing community.

Demonstrating a commitment to environmental sustainability, the project is aiming for a 4 star Green Star rating.

Hansen Yuncken’s Victorian State Manager, Richard Hansen, said the $22 million project, which saw design and construction completed within a year, was delivered on time and within budget.

“We’re proud to have completed this significant project in 12 months and be associated with the Stockland group, one of Australia’s largest retail property owners and developers,” Mr Hansen said.

“Stockland’s Highlands Shopping Centre is a particularly important development as it is within the highest-selling master-planned community in the country, servicing a total trade area estimated at 17,000 people.

“Hansen Yuncken has a particularly strong track record in the construction of major retail complexes in Australia. This project follows our highly successful construction of many other retail and entertainment facilities, residential apartments and commercial premises around Australia.”

The first retail shopping centre in the Highlands, one of Melbourne’s main growth corridors, Highlands Shopping Centre also comprises 330 car spaces with ease of access to the Western Ring Road. The project is located just 30 minutes away from Tullamarine Airport and the Melbourne CBD.

Hansen Yuncken, established in 1918 in Melbourne, is Australia’s largest private commercial construction contractor. The company employs 730 people around Australia with offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra, Newcastle, Orange, Townsville, Cairns, Shepparton and Albury/Wodonga.
