Singapore Airlines to increase Adelaide services

20 December 2011

Adelaide Airport Ltd (AAL) has welcomed today’s announcement by Singapore Airlines that it will add three non-stop services between Adelaide and Singapore from July 2012. It will take the number of flights over the northern hemisphere summer to 10 a week.

AAL Managing Director, Mark Young, said the announcement was great news for passengers travelling to Asia and connecting with flights to Europe and the UK.

“It will also make Adelaide more attractive to international tourists because they know they’ll be able to get home quicker at the end of their holiday,” Mr Young said.

“Adelaide Airport has experienced record international passenger numbers in 2011, and today’s announcement is further evidence that international carriers are recognising the demand in South Australia for their services.”

Cathay Pacific last month introduced for the first time three non-stop services a week from Adelaide to Hong Kong, while Air New Zealand, Malaysia Airlines and Virgin Australia also have increased capacity.
