Bronwyn Hurrell
Bronwyn has more than 30 years’ experience in media and public relations – as a journalist, senior government media adviser, corporate communications manager, and consultant.
Bronwyn develops and delivers proactive communication strategies, provides bespoke crisis scenario training and on-call issues management. Her clients span the public sector, education, professional services and community services.
MBA-qualified, Bronwyn has led communications and marketing teams for complex organisations – in State Government, higher education, research and consultancy. She has been a trusted adviser to a Premier, State Government ministers, chief executives, and a Vice Chancellor.
Bronwyn was former South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill’s media adviser for more than 10 years, running day-to-day media conferences and providing on-call media liaison to local and national media outlets.
She accompanied the Premier on overseas trade and investment missions and gained insights into almost every government policy area, from education and child protection to housing and treasury.
Bronwyn understands government processes, is politically savvy, and has delivered communications for state budgets, state elections, other major events and corporate announcements. She recently led the media and communications team at the former University of South Australia.
Earlier, Bronwyn was a senior journalist at The Advertiser newspaper in Adelaide, Sydney, and Canberra. She reported on state and federal politics, the environment, courts, the Sydney and Athens Olympics, as well as domestic cricket. For many years she had a regular opinion column.
