First Malaysia Airlines A330neo touches down in Adelaide

Malaysia Airlines’ new A330neo aircraft has touched down in Adelaide for the first time this morning, offering passengers a stunning new business class cabin and award-winning economy class cabin.
The A330neo is configured with 28 Business Class and 269 Economy Class seats, including 24 seats with extra legroom. It is 25 per cent more fuel-efficient than older models, with lower emissions, quieter engines and a more comfortable cabin. The Business Class cabin features spacious suites with high walls and privacy doors to create a personal ‘mini suite’.
The new aircraft follows an increase on the Adelaide – Kuala Lumpur service from five flights per week to daily flights in February, creating more than 60,000 additional seats per year between the two cities.
Adelaide Airport Executive General Manager People, Culture and Customer, Dermot O’Neill, said Malaysia Airlines had been a significant supporter of Adelaide’s international market for well over three decades.
“We’re excited that Malaysia Airlines has chosen to fly its brand-new Airbus A330-900neo aircraft on this route. The combination of the stunning new business class cabin and the award-winning economy class cabin offers premium comfort and an improved living space,” Mr O’Neill said.
“Today’s new aircraft launch reinforces Malaysia Airlines’ longstanding commitment to our market. It’s a wonderful outcome for South Australians travelling to Malaysia and beyond, and to the overseas visitors travelling to Adelaide using the airline’s extensive route network.
“In addition to business and leisure traffic, we know this service is popular with international students flying from Malaysia and further afield including India, China, Nepal and Vietnam to study in Adelaide. Being a wide-body jet it also creates greater export opportunities for our local producers.
Malaysia Airlines flights depart Kuala Lumpur at 10.25pm and arrive in Adelaide at 7.00am the next day. Return flights depart Adelaide at 9.45am and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 4.00pm.
