SA’s Top 10 Luckiest Lottery Suburbs

5 November 2026

Where are South Australia’s luckiest lottery suburbs? St John Ambulance SA has crunched the numbers, with Mount Barker, West Lakes, Prospect and Morphett Vale the areas coming out on top.

An analysis of St John Lottery winners since 2023 has identified the suburbs and areas where prizes have been won most frequently. Hallett Cove, Seaton, Greenwith, Mawson Lakes, Happy Valley and Golden  Grove round out the top 10.

As a not-for-profit organisation, the St John Lottery provides vital funding for St John SA’s charitable and community services.

St John trains more than 40,000 people annually through its activities, including First Aid in Schools, Driver First Aid, Mental Health First Aid and other programs. Its Youth Program builds first aid, leadership, life skills and confidence to contribute to communities. Staff and volunteers also deliver health and medical services at community, sporting and major events statewide.

St John Ambulance SA Chief Executive Associate Professor Steve Morris said funds raised through the lottery helped St John continue to deliver services to communities across the state.

“For 140 years, St John has provided compassionate care to South Australians. Despite today’s economic challenges, our staff and volunteers continue to keep thousands of people safe and cared for while equipping communities to help others,” Associate Professor Morris said.

“The lottery gives South Australians the chance to win extraordinary prizes while supporting our work, so we can keep delivering the best possible services to the community well into the future,” he said.

This year’s St John Lottery features more than $6.5 million in prizes. The Grand Prize winner can choose from a Semaphore South home package valued at approximately $5m, a Gold Coast apartment package valued at approximately $5m, or $4.5m in gold bullion.

Ticket purchasers who choose to become a St John Lottery member for free automatically go into an exclusive draw for a Maserati Grecale Trofeo valued at more than $214,000, and there are 5,000 other prizes to be won.

Fulham Gardens (13th on the list) resident Marcus, who won a Mercedes Benz CLA 200 worth $69,914 in an early prize draw in late October, was having a bad year with a broken leg needing surgery after a soccer incident and had to take several months off work.

“I was at work as a carpenter when they called and I was lost for words, it was nice to get some good luck,” he said.

Marcus, whose family members have been supported by St John Ambulance over the years and have undertaken training courses, said he bought his ticket because the money raised went to a good cause.

“I never expect to win anything and if you win a small prize or something it’s a bonus. I live in the western suburbs and you don’t ever know the winners, it shows that everyday people like me – I’m just a carpenter on the tools – can win a nice car.”
