Jobs boost for Blackwood as Coles opens new store
A major upgrade of the Coles Blackwood supermarket was officially unveiled this morning (September 11) in a major boost for the local Hills community.
The refurbished store will now employ more than 100 people and add to Coles’ wider investment in South Australia this year which has created more than 530 jobs in the state.
Since March, Coles has opened three new stores in South Australia at McLaren Vale and St Clair and Rundle Place in Adelaide.
Coles Blackwood will be re-launched next week as a new-look market style supermarket featuring an extended fresh food range and a new bakery where customers can purchase straight from the oven every day.
Other features of the refurbished store include a new deli, pick-and-mix olive bar and a dedicated cheese shop showcasing Australian dairies alongside other delectable cheeses from around the world.
Coles Blackwood Store Manager David Chartres says the new store, which took three months to complete, is exciting news for locals.
“Coles Blackwood has long been one of the biggest employers in the immediate area and with this fantastic store refurbishment we’re able to employ even more team members, which is great for the local community,” he said.
“For customers, the new store will provide a vastly superior shopping experience than before, including a completely rebuilt fresh precinct and a wider selection of products to choose from.
“We think shoppers in the Blackwood and wider Hills community are going to be really impressed.”
The new Coles Blackwood store will also stock a larger range of local products. In total, there will be more than 600 homegrown SA products stocked on shelves, including Maggie Beer, Beerenberg, Moo Premium Yoghurt, BD Farm Paris Creek, Spring Gully, Tuckers Natural and Bickford’s, as well as freshly picked fruit from Hills grower Ceravolo Orchards.
Coles Blackwood is located on Young Street in Blackwood. The store is open from 6am-9pm Monday to Friday, 6am-5pm on Saturdays and 11am-5pm on Sundays.
