CH4 Global named Top Agriculture Sustainability Company

15 September 2025

ADELAIDE, Australia: US-based agriculture publication Agri Business Review Magazine has named CH4 Global as the Greenhouse Gas Mitigation Solutions Company of the Year 2025, recognising its efforts to reduce methane emissions in the agriculture sector.

The award recognises agricultural sustainability in the US, Europe and the Asia Pacific regions, highlighting CH4 Global’s reputation and trust within the agriculture industry and climate tech industries, particularly among peers.

It has been a year of significant growth for CH4 Global, which began in January when it opened the world’s first commercial-scale EcoPark on Eyre Peninsula to grow Asparagopsis – a native seaweed to South Australian and New Zealand waters which has been shown to reduce methane emissions from cattle by up to 90 per cent. At the EcoPark, CH4 Global formulates the Asparagopsis into flagship solution Methane Tamer™.

The facility’s production model slashes operational costs by up to 90 per cent versus conventional seaweed farming. CH4 Global has also forged strategic partnerships with major organisations to help fast-track adoption across diverse supply chains and markets.

Since January, several major feedlots in Australia have been feeding Methane Tamer to their cattle – at just .5 per cent of their daily diet - disrupting an enzymatic process in a cattle's digestive system. Developed through a proprietary cultivation and processing method, the solution is scientifically-validated and safe.

Wagyu cattle from Sandalwood in Queensland, fed Methane Tamer for 400 days, have since been processed with beef now available to consumers at Adelaide butcher Windsor Meats in a world first, with high-end restaurants also including it on their menus.

CH4 Global is also working with cattle farmers in South Australia and NSW, and with partners Lotte International in South Korea, UPL in India, Chipotle in the US and Mitsubishi in Japan.

“We’re thrilled to be recognised by an esteemed international Agri Business Review publication for our work to reduce methane emissions in agriculture, because we know our Methane Tamer formulation plays a vital role in helping the world meet its climate commitments,” CH4 Global CEO Dr Steve Meller said.

“We are working through the entire lifecycle of Asparagopsis – from inoculum through to growing it at scale to feeding it to cows, and now we are seeing steaks on plates, while working with food producers and farmers to consumers and governments.

“We’re grateful to Agri Business Review for this recognition as we continue to innovate in a sustainable way, progressing from intention to action, by having a meaningful impact on climate change.”
