New partner joins expanding Showpony team

11 January 2013

Showpony Advertising has strengthened its team with the announcement of a new partner joining the agency.

Sophie Young, 32, returns to Adelaide and Showpony as a Partner and Account Director after three years in New York working in an exclusive position as a Special Projects Manager for a ‘Forbes 400 Richest Americans’ listed family.

Within this diverse position she managed projects including the construction of a private art gallery and residence in Manhattan and Tel Aviv, recruited and managed private staff, bid on fine art collections from Sotheby’s and Christie’s and supported the family’s philanthropic endeavours.

The ‘once in a lifetime’ role was offered to Sophie through a previous client from Concierge London, a bespoke lifestyle management services company she worked for in 2005.

“Working for a family with a few billion dollars to their name produced many surreal experiences. Bidding on art at famous New York auction houses without a limit and working with internationally acclaimed architects in New York and Tel Aviv, was an education in the art of persuasion and negotiation to make the impossible possible,” said Sophie.

The skills gained in this role are utilised every day at Showpony where Sophie is responsible for making things happen – perfectly - for Showpony’s clients.

Sophie also welcomes the opportunity to be back in Adelaide, “New York City is amazing and I will always love it, but at the end of the day Adelaide is the loveliest, easiest place to live. We have the best food and wine in the country, amazing beaches, world-class festivals and I am proud to be part of the Showpony team again and am excited about the future of the agency.”

“We have a saying ‘Once a pony always a pony’ and we are thrilled to have Sophie back on the Showpony team. She is not only a passionate South Australian, but a very dynamic and creative individual who will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our clients,’’ Showpony Managing Director Jamie Scott said.

Mr Scott says Showpony now has over 20 staff making it one of Adelaide’s largest independent advertising agencies. The agency works with some of Australia’s biggest brands and recently launched successful campaigns for Breastscreen SA, Bridgestone, DFEEST and a social media app for Sapporo.
