Offline Campers wins International Good Design Award

South Australian-owned and made camper trailer business Offline Campers has won an International Good Design Award for Excellence in Design and Innovation, for its Solitaire Hybrid Camper.
Offline Campers has been recognised as the Australian Good Design Award winner in the Product Design category, and will receive its gong at a gala event this Friday night.
The Australian Good Design Awards are one of the world’s longest-running international design award programs, rewarding, defining and celebrating good design. This year’s theme was “Design for Better”.
Founder Sam Reynolds said the Offline Solitaire was the new way to travel Australia’s most remote destinations, designed as a compact offroad camper on the outside, with the luxuries of a larger caravan inside.
Features include a queen-sized bed, kitchen, dining area for eight people, heating and reverse-cycle air conditioning, café windows, 2,500 litres of storage, an ensuite accessible via the bedroom, heated shower with temperature control and a toilet. The Solitaire also has a fully-automated opening roof, ensuite, awning and levelling.
Mr Reynolds said the team at Offline Campers appreciated being recognised for its design, having created the Solitaire and other models with offroad camping and comfort in-mind.
“Our focus at Offline Campers is on building the highest quality campers, using Australian components such as steel and electronic fittings, aimed to withstand the harshest conditions of remote and off-grid locations so that people can travel further, for longer, and in comfort,” Mr Reynolds said.
“The Solitaire has been designed to suit people of all abilities and ages, with simple assembly an important design feature to ensure equipment is easy to access at any time. People can set up quickly, then take things slowly with the Solitaire, with all the mod cons possible.”
The award jury found the Solitaire offered “camping versatility though clever packaging and thoughtful touches.”
“A really well thought out and adaptive solution and quite unique in its field. The material choices and overall look and feel are good… A key design feature is the combination of off-road capability of a compact trailer with many comforts of larger hybrids and caravans.
“An interesting and innovative take on the typical space saving staples of pop out beds and couch areas of traditional vans. Fit for purpose design and well thought out features throughout make this a winner in this category.
“The higher cost price suggest far better quality and longevity. Overall, a clever all-round package and great example of Australian design and ingenuity in this very competitive market. Well done to the Design Team.”
Offline Campers is one of the very few in Australia to design and manufacture locally, using the maximum amount of local components possible to build the Swiss Army Knife of the camper trailer community.
