The Pat GC expands Short Course to full 18-hole experience

The Pat GC will expand its Short Course from 15 holes to a full 18-hole layout, strengthening its position as one of South Australia’s most diverse and accessible golf destinations.
Construction on the project will begin in June, with the redesigned course, to be renamed The Short Course 18, ready to tee off in November.
The Short Course 18 will deliver a more complete, flexible and accessible experience alongside The Pat GC’s championship Patawalonga Golf Course (18 holes) and Driving Range, which offers TrackMan Range technology.
The expanded short course reflects growing demand for more social and time-friendly formats of the game, while still providing a premium golf experience.
Once completed, The Short Course 18’s holes will range from 95m to 175m. Players will still be able to play a ninehole round, while the expansion to 18 holes will allow for official handicaps to be recorded.
West Beach Parks CEO Kate Anderson said the redesigned Short Course reflected The Pat GC’s commitment to innovation and inclusivity in golf, catering to players of all ages, abilities and time commitments.
“Short Course 18 is about responding to how people want to play golf today – more flexibility, more accessibility and more ways to enjoy the game,” Ms Anderson said.
“By moving to an 18-hole Short Course, we are improving the golf experience for beginners, juniors, families, social and time-poor golfers, while also supporting coaching pathways, community participation and inclusive competition formats,” she said.
“The Pat GC is focused on creating the best possible experience for all golfers. The Short Course 18 complements our championship Patawalonga Golf Course and TrackMan Range technology, ensuring we offer a complete and progressive golfing destination.”
During construction, disruption to play will be minimised, with some holes temporarily shortened as works progress. Regular updates on scheduling and access will be shared via The Pat GC’s social channels (@thepatGC and @The Pat GC).
The Pat GC was awarded "Most Outstanding Environmental Initiative" at the 2025 Golf Australia National Awards of Excellence and named "Club, Venue or Facility of the Year" at the 2025 South Australian Golf Industry Awards.
