Mount Barker Lifestyle Village opens $4 million community centre
The Mount Barker Lifestyle Village will celebrate a major milestone tomorrow with the official opening of a new $4 million Community Centre.
To be launched by District Council of Mount Barker Mayor Ann Ferguson and Member for Kavel Mark Goldsworthy MP, the state-of-the-art Community Centre will provide a social hub for residents of the recently opened Mount Barker Lifestyle Village.
Lifestyle SA General Manager Stephen Norris says the elaborate Community Centre will provide significant benefits to local retirees.
“This is a fantastic new facility for village residents including an indoor heated swimming pool and hydrotherapy spa, gymnasium, hairdressing salon, library and billiards lounge,” he said.
“There are also bar facilities for residents and visitors to enjoy plus a multi-purpose function hall and dining room for social gatherings.
“Importantly, the new Community Centre will encourage social interaction among retirees and becomes the new focal point of the Mount Barker Lifestyle Village which is providing a modern living choice for over-55s in the region.”
The $60 million Mount Barker Lifestyle Village opened last year and includes 157 two and three-bedroom homes that have been specifically designed for retirees aged over 55, incorporating formal and informal living areas, garages and fully maintained gardens.
Located on Lysander Court off Hurling Drive, the village also includes a bowling green and clubroom, caravan and boat storage, plus cutting-edge security measures such as automatic card-only vehicle and pedestrian access gates at the entrances to the village incorporating closed circuit cameras connected to residents’ televisions.
Lifestyle SA now manages 11 Lifestyle Villages across South Australia, including estates at Walkley Heights, Pasadena, Happy Valley, Seaford, Hope Valley, Salisbury East, Evanston Park, Woodcroft, Parafield Gardens, Golden Grove and Mount Barker.
