New Birds-Eye View Of Expanded Adelaide Convention Centre And Revitalised Riverbank Precinct
Conference organisers and future delegates can now see how the expanded Adelaide Convention Centre will look at the heartof the redeveloped Riverbank precinct following the launch of a new fly-through.
The spectacular new fly-through provides a bird’s eye view of the Riverbank precinct along the River Torrens from Adelaide Oval through to the new Royal Adelaide Hospital. It then returns to the Adelaide Convention Centre for a detailed virtual tour of the expanded Centre.
The fly-through shows how the two key stages of the Centre’s current $350 million expansion seamlessly integrate with the current building to create three iconic buildings which work in harmony together.
Adelaide Convention Centre Chief Executive Alec Gilbertsaidthe fly-through video gives the viewer a real sense of the space and flexibility of the expanded Centre, its unique location and the spectacular views future delegates will enjoy.
“It also brings to life the Centre’s location at the heart of the revitalised Riverbank precinct, which will be a key advantage for conference and event organisers and delegates,” said Mr Gilbert.
“Future delegates will enjoy a much richer experience when attending a conference or event at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
“They will be visiting a Centre in a precinct which includes the redeveloped Adelaide Oval - home to both cricket and AFL football from next year, redeveloped Adelaide Casino, medical and health hub with new hospital, South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) and other world-leading research centres and a landscaped network of walking and cycling paths including a new pedestrian bridge over the River Torrens.”
The expanded Centre at the heart of the Riverbank precinct will again position South Australia as a leader in the international convention market by providing one of the largest, most flexible and up-to-date meeting places in the world and removing existing capacity restraints.
Work is progressing well on the Centre’s expansion with Stage One on track for completion by the end of 2014 and Stage Two by mid-2017.
