Kallis named SA energy professional of the year
Energy industry veteran Terry Kallis has been named South Australia’s Energy Professional of the Year by the Australian Institute of Energy (AIE).
Principal of Kallis & Co and co-developer of the CERES wind farm project on the Yorke Peninsula, Mr Kallis was honoured at the 2015 AIE SA Branch Annual Energy Awards Dinner held at the Adelaide Oval last week.
He was recognised for his leadership in promoting awareness of energy issues and contributing to the development of responsible energy policies in South Australia.
He was also acknowledged for the innovation and entrepreneurship he has brought to the South Australian energy sector, and for his contribution to the sustainable development of the state’s energy resources.
The award was also in recognition of Mr Kallis’ 30-year contribution to the South Australian energy sector, which has encompassed various senior roles including ETSA Corporation, Petratherm and as a leading consultant to numerous renewable energy projects.
“It is very humbling to receive such a prestigious industry award and to continue to play a role in helping develop South Australia’s renewable energy sector,” said Mr Kallis.
During his career, Mr Kallis has been at the forefront of energy reforms in Australia, including the establishment of the national electricity market, and disaggregation and privatisation of ETSA. He has also helped lead a variety of new and innovative energy project developments, including underground HVDC interconnection, wind farm developments, geothermal and biomass energy projects.
The AIE is the leading energy-focused professional society in South Australia and seeks to promote understanding and awareness of energy issues and the development of responsible energy policies in Australia.
