Hansen Yuncken secures Echuca Hospital redevelopment
Leading national construction company Hansen Yuncken has secured a contract for the redevelopment of the Echuca Hospital in northern Victoria.
Building works on the $65.6 million redevelopment will commence next month, with works expected to be completed in early 2015.
The redevelopment - to be constructed over two stages and across three distinct locations on the existing hospital site - will see a 66 per cent increase in the hospital’s in-patient beds to 113.
With 8,500m2 of new floor area, the project will include new ward areas, radiology department, maternity and paediatric wards, and a rehabilitation unit that will support stroke patients, those with cardiac conditions and patients recovering from orthopaedic surgery.
Hansen Yuncken’s Hume Regional Manager, Jason Cox, said the company was pleased to be involved in providing an expanded health service for people in regional Victoria.
“We constructed the Echuca Regional Health campus more than 20 years ago, and the awarding of this project demonstrates our ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality projects throughout regional Victoria and southern NSW through our offices in Shepparton and Albury/Wodonga,” Mr Cox said.
“This project win further enhances Hansen Yuncken’s reputation in the health sector. We’re involved in more than $1.6 billion of health projects currently under way around country.
“Hansen Yuncken has a strong track record in the construction of major hospitals and medical facilities with key projects including the Central Coast Cancer Centre, Sydney’s Medica Centre, Orange Hospital, as well as construction of the new Royal Adelaide Hospital, which once completed will be the most advanced hospital in Australia.”
Hansen Yuncken, established in 1918, is one of Australia’s largest private commercial construction contractors. The company employs 700 people around Australia with offices in Melbourne, Albury/Wodonga, Shepparton, Sydney, Newcastle, Canberra, Orange, Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton and Hobart.
