Construction starts on Chasecrown's new Kent Town jewel as national builder Multiplex signs on
National award-winning developer Chasecrown has marked the start of construction on its prime $120 million Parkline residential project on Dequetteville Terrace with the release of its final penthouse and sub-penthouse sky homes.
The company has also announced award-winning global construction firm Multiplex will manage construction on the Kent Town site.
Chasecrown Director and Project Architect, Mr Louis Kanellos, says it was exciting to work with Multiplex on such a signature residential development.
“Multiplex is a premier construction company that has shaped skylines and delivering iconic projects around the world. It has delivered more than 1,100 projects globally including 18 in South Australia,” Mr Kanellos says.
Multiplex SA State Manager Andrew Warren says: “We are thrilled to be appointed by Chasecrown to deliver this exceptional project.
“Parkline Kent Town adds to our long-standing presence in South Australia, having delivered approximately $500 million worth of projects in the region over the past 30 years.”
The 12-storey, 61 luxury apartment building is already 80 per cent sold, with the final release of some of the more premium apartments on the higher levels expected to snapped up quickly. Prices on the remaining park frontage apartments range from $1.3 million to $5.1 million.
Mr Kanellos says every investment buys uninterrupted views of either the east parklands, city or hills and boasts enviable green credentials.
“You can’t live any closer to the Adelaide CBD without living in the city itself. It offers the best of both worlds, combining urban living with city convenience,” Mr Kanellos says.
“We’ve taken full advantage of this unique location overlooking the parklands, close to services and within walking distance of the restaurants, cafes and shops in the city’s East End and Norwood Parade.”
“The successful urban regeneration of this corner of Kent Town is unsurprising given the unparalleled access to everything you would need in terms of shopping, dining, transport, green space and education.
“We’re excited by the interest to date with 80 per cent of apartments already sold, but we’re also aware some potential purchasers have been waiting for these latest premium homes to come on to the market. The market for new city-fringe apartments remains strong so we’re anticipating high demand for this final release.”
The all-electric building is capable of net zero operation, thanks to a 7-star average apartment energy rating and a power system that can avoid the use of fossil fuels for heating, cooling, hot water and cooking appliances.
Other environmentally responsive design initiatives include a naturally ventilated carpark with ‘green walls‘ to reduce energy consumption; an extensive solar array supporting the building’s communal energy consumption; infrastructure supporting individual electric vehicle charging stations; and home automation options.
Mr Kanellos says Chasecrown is also investing in the public realm around the Kent Town project by removing power lines to King William Street, activating the street frontages and laneways with high-quality landscaping, and green walls.
“We placed a high value on contributing to the ongoing regeneration of Kent Town and recognition of the precinct’s local character and proximity of the city,” he says.
