Work starts on $180 million, 254-home Senses residential development

Construction has started on the new $180 million Senses residential development at Mount Barker which will create 254 new homes in a master-planned community with generous open space and community connection.
Launched late last year, more than 40 homes have already been sold within the development allowing civil construction to commence which will include roads, services and earthworks for the development’s reserves. Initial civil works, which are being undertaken by national civil construction firm Winslow Constructors, are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Construction is expected to start on the first homes later this year with home builder partners including Fairmont, Simonds, Henley, Weeks and Metricon.
Homebuyers at Senses can choose from a range of house and land packages or purchase land and build with their chosen homebuilder within Senses Urban Design Guidelines which have been developed to maintain high-standards and help protect buyer’s investment.
This week, expressions of interest will commence for the anticipated Evoke Cottage homes. Developed in partnership with Fairmont, prices start from $565,983, representing part of Senses philosophy of providing a diverse range of housing options.
Senses has been carefully designed by a team of leading urban designers and landscape architects to seamlessly integrate sensory experiences into everyday life. The focus is on creating inclusive, accessible and connected community spaces for all.
Senses will be centred around cul-de-sac living, with interconnected open spaces designed to foster social connections and a strong sense of community. Thoughtfully separated areas for quiet relaxation and more active communal spaces will ensure there’s something for everyone.
Anthony Andolfatto, Senses Project Director said starting work so quickly after the launch of the project reflects the confidence homebuyers are showing in our vision, embracing the uniqueness of Senses.
“With the first releases selling exceptionally well, we’re excited to bring this community one step closer to reality,” said Mr Andolfatto.
“We are attracting a wide range of buyers including first homebuyers, growing families and downsizers, which will create a diverse and cohesive community.
“We are continuing to sell land lots and house and land packages with a variety of lot sizes and housing options on offer and further releases planned throughout the year.”
Work starting on Senses follows a recent announcement by the Malinauskas Labor Government that if re-elected they will invest $200 million in new educational, health, transport, and community facilities in Mount Barker. This is in addition to the investment being made into the new Mount Barker Hospital which is due to open next year.
Landcap Development’s Executive Director David Allington said starting civil works is the beginning of transforming this land into a vibrant, connected neighbourhood that future residents will be proud to call home.
“There has never been a better time to make Senses and Mount Barker your home,” said Mr Allington.
“Senses is being developed at a time when some of the largest generational infrastructure investments are being made in Mount Barker, with future residents benefiting from having everything on their doorstep.
“We are developing Senses to be a peaceful sanctuary for future residents while ensuring they are connected into the wider community with the project close to local shops, schools and other amenities.”
