UDIA welcomes major Renewal SA appointment
John Hanlon’s appointment as the new Chief Executive of Renewal SA has been applauded by South Australia’s development industry.
As the state’s peak representative body for the urban development sector, the Urban Development Institute of Australia (SA) says its membership looks forward to working with Mr Hanlon.
“Through his deputy and acting chief executive roles with the Department of Planning Transport and Infrastructure, he has proven himself as a strong performer,” said Terry Walsh, UDIA (SA) Executive Director.
“He has worked well with developers and councils in the past to achieve planning reforms that have enabled successful development in both fringe and infill locations.
“The UDIA congratulates Mr Hanlon and looks forward to strengthening our close working relationship with him and Renewal SA to help develop land, build communities and create a stronger and more sustainable economy in South Australia.
“In particular, we look forward to continuing to work with Renewal SA to help the State Government facilitate development opportunities through the provision of core infrastructure support to projects and facilitating land parceling in infill locations.”
Established in 1971, the UDIA (SA) represents the interests of the development industry in South Australia in collaboration with all levels of government. It seeks to represent all sections of the urban development sector, including developers, councils and service providers such as engineers, planners and surveyors. As the fifth largest contributor to output in SA, the property development industry employs 56,000 people or 7% of the state’s total workforce, and accounts for almost $9 billion or 12% of Gross State Product.
