A clear view for new Royal Adelaide Hospital
All South Australians from city and country can now watch the construction progress of the new Royal Adelaide Hospital via the Internet, through a webcam installed directly opposite the construction site on North Terrace.
The camera provides an uninterrupted view from the southern side of the new Royal Adelaide Hospital looking north. Images will be refreshed every 15 minutes, and can be viewed on the SA Health Partnership website at www.sahp.com.au.
Construction Director, Mark Hanson said anyone with an interest in the project can now see the early stages of construction and will be able to continue to view the progression of the project as the new hospital comes to life.
“Over the next few weeks you will be able to see increased activity on site, including construction of a retaining piling platform and retention piling – all part of the supporting foundations along North Terrace and Port Road,” Mr Hanson said.
“A stormwater culvert is also under construction, and significant earthworks are continuing as part of the remediation process.
“It’s still the very early stages, but it won’t be long before the site becomes a hive of activity. At its peak of construction in 2013, we’re expecting about 1800 people will be employed on the project.”
The new Royal Adelaide Hospital will be situated on corner of West Terrace and North Terrace between the CBD, Parklands and River Torrens. It will cover a 13 hectare site, or 172,000 square metres of fully enclosed space.
The hospital will be the cornerstone of the State’s healthcare plan and its biggest hospital with 800 beds including 100 same day beds. The new Royal Adelaide Hospital is due for completion in 2016.
