Walk with purpose at our last ever PAWGUST!

One last walk. One life-changing cause. Guide Dogs SA/NT is calling on all dog walkers, fitness enthusiasts and sup-pawters to lace up their sneakers and get out the dog leash in August – or join some friends for some hearty walks this winter – as part of its last ever PAWGUST.
Whether it’s under a warm sun in the Flinders Ranges, along the beach at Robe or through the streets of Golden Grove, Guide Dogs Australia is encouraging all dog owners, dog sitters and dog neighbours to walk with purpose, raising vital funds to change people’s lives.
Funds raised during PAWGUST will go towards raising and training Guide Dogs and supporting people with low vision or blindness to achieve greater independence, while raising awareness of the role the organisation plays across the country.
Guide Dogs SA/NT Chief Executive Dan Cox encouraged people to register and make plans with others to get together and give PAWGUST the send-off it deserves, making every step count for the Guide Dogs community.
“Over the past eight years we’ve encouraged people to join the pack and walk in winter with their furry friends, raising close to $8 million across the country,” Mr Cox said.
“We want to make this the most paw-erful and impactful PAWGUST ever, to support our life-changing cause.
“We all need exercise for our physical and mental health, and our furry friends need their own stimulation every day - to seek out new smells, new environments, different plants, and the chance to meet different dogs - and PAWGUST provides the paw-fect opportunity.”
It costs more than $50,000 to raise and train a Guide Dog, providing essential support to those living with low vision or blindness.
PAWGUST paw-ticipants can set their goal distance, share their fundraising page, join a friendship or work team, and encourage others to sponsor their walks to raise funds. The more paw-ticipants raise, the more rewards they unlock, including doggie bandanas, socks, beanies, t-shirts and jumpers.
Registration has officially opened.
